Decorating Baby's NurseryFor many mothers to be, decorating the nursery is a very enjoyable task… a task that is not to be taken lightly. There are so many themes and designers to choose from, it can seem a bit overwhelming at first. But worry not! With some planning and a good sense of style, you can create a beautiful nursery that you can be proud of. Whether you are lucky enough to have a large budget at your disposal or need to control what you’re spending, there are many adorable options to choose from, for both a boy and a girl. Some moms may even choose to wait a bit when their baby is a few months old to start the nursery process if they plan on breastfeeding or keeping the baby in their room for a while. Knowing your baby’s gender, at this point, makes things much easier. You will be able to decorate for a boy or a girl specifically, instead of using traditional greens and yellows or an either sex theme… such as teddy bears or nursery rhymes. If you’re going to paint or repaint the nursery, you have the option of choosing the paint first and then coordinating the bedding and accessories or choosing the bedding first and then matching paint colors. The choice is really up to you. If you want the freshly painted room to be a bit jazzier, you have the option of purchasing wall border. It is so much easier to put up than wallpaper and is available in countless designs. Go one step further, by purchasing two different but coordinating borders. Apply them to opposite walls, for added interest. Just remember, the bedding is usually the focal point, in the room. Because of this, it is extremely important to shop around, for just the right set, before making an actual purchase. If you buy the first theme that catches your eye, chances are you’ll find something you like even better, down the road. Avoid having to return the original set by window shopping first. If you already have a name picked out, personalized items are great to add to the nursery. Things like quilts, clocks and photo frame’s can all be uniquely personalized with your baby’s moniker. If you don’t feel up to decorating the nursery yourself or you don’t have the needed funds to purchase all of the supplies and accessories, consider a ‘decorating shower’ in place of the traditional kind. Ask friends and family to attend, in effort to make your nursery a reality. Plan on your guests arriving early in the morning and allowing them to work into the evening. Provide everyone with lunch and ample beverages, throughout the day. (In some cases, the transformation may take more than one day. If so, it’s best to schedule things for the weekend, as most people are free on Saturday and Sunday.) If you are not purchasing all of the materials yourself, provide everyone with a list of needed item approximately 3 weeks prior to the event. That way everyone will have time to purchase needed supplies.
